Canele caters to LA's hipsters and Pregnant women

The Saturday afternoon we tried Canele for brunch there were some LA hipsters and pregnant women with their husbands. Both were seeking innovative comfort foods such as Egg in a hole on thick French bread, homemade granola with strawberries and chocolate, fennel cured salmon with creme fraishe on pumpernickle, or fried chicken with pickled green tomatoes on a toasted bun.

A must to try is their spicy homemade Ginger ale and their pecan sticky buns.  Our little one ordered the baked pancake with meyer lemon custard.  Her side of house cured bacon was served on a plate with five thick slices. All were terrific!

It was great to see all women in the open kitchen preparing wonderful dishes.  Maybe the reason there were at least three pregnant women dining at Canele, was due to their pregnancy cravings.  Heck, I'm not even pregnant, but as I write this I'm craving an sweet brioche and pecan sticky bun.

Canele is located at 3219 Glendale Blvd., Los Angeles - 323-666-7133
